Davis Public Library introduces the 2020 fall book discussion

Join the Davis Public Library for the Let’s Talk About It, Oklahoma series entitled: “Private Investigations: Hard-boiled and Soft-Hearted Heroes” beginning Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 6 p.m. This series will introduce six different books accompanied by scholar presentations for people who love to read and discuss literature.
The hard-boiled detective story is uniquely American. This series begins with Raymond Chandler, who perfected and defined the genre, samples three more contemporary authors, and concludes with a quirky, tongue-in-cheek, take on the detective story by Kinky Friedman.
Beginning with The Big Sleep and The Long Goodbye by Raymond Chandler (Aug. 4), the series is followed by Death in a Tenured Position by Amanda Cross (Aug. 18), Ghostway by Tony Hillerman (Sep.1), Killing Orders by Sara Peretsky (Sept. 15), and A Case of Lone Star by Kinky Freedman (Sept. 29).
Funding for this program is provided in part by a grant from the Oklahoma Humanities (OH) and the Inasmuch and Kirkpatrick Endowment for the Humanities. Any views, findings, conclusions, or recommendations expressed in this program do not necessarily represent those of OH.
This program is free and open to the public. Copies of the books are available at the library.  For more information, call the Davis Public Library at (580) 369-2468 or visit us at 209 East Benton in Davis. The Davis Public Library is a branch of the Southern Oklahoma Library System.
