Wolf wrestlers pound Pauls Valley, 63-12

Near falls. Troy Bullman used a leg ride to turn his Panther opponent in a scoring frenzy early in his match. He was ahead 13-2 when he pinned the Pauls Valley 126-pounder to help Davis to a 63-12 road dual win on Jan. 12.

The Davis wrestlers had a busy week with no cancellations from Jan. 12-16. The Wolves went to Pauls Valley on Tuesday and beat the Panthers 63-12. Then, the junior high and high school boys and girls wrestled in the Western Conference Tournament Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Davis 63, Pauls Valley 12
The dual was never in doubt as the Wolves racked up 42 points in forfeits, but Davis also won four of the six matches wrestled to blow out the home team. They actually started at heavyweight, where a pin gave Pauls Valley its only lead of the night, 6-0.
Davis then took forfeits with its three girls at the lower weights and built a 18-6 lead. At 126 pounds, Troy Bullman put on a takedown clinic. He scored four takedowns in the first two periods to build a 13-2 going into the third period, before registering the fall.
After two more forfeits, Jake Britt racked up three takedowns and a 10-2 lead in the first period and then got the pin with 21 seconds left. That win put the Wolves up 42-6.
Brenden Johnson followed a Pauls Valley pin with a win by decision at 170. He gave up a takedown early and trailed 2-0 before rattling off seven straight points to finish the match.
After two more forfeits, Lane Rawls finished the night with a pin in just 29 seconds at 220.
