Oretha Maureen Moore
Graveside services for Oretha Maureen Moore were held 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Green Hill Cemetery in Davis with Pastor Roger Sims officiating.
Oretha was born Nov. 18, 1931, in Hennepin, Okla., to the late Virgil and Bertha (Lannom) McNeil. She died Saturday, April 24, 2021, in Ardmore at the age of 89. Oretha and George Edwin Moore were married on July 13, 1963. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1993.
Oretha grew up in Hennepin, graduating from Woodland High School. During the early years of her children’s lives, she was a stay-at-home mother. She later spent several years working as a beautician. In 1982, Oretha began working for the United States Postal Service as an independent mail carrier, retiring in 2017, after 35 years of service. She was an avid reader and enjoyed coloring. Oretha was a self-proclaimed meteorologist. Anytime there was a shear chance of storms, she was glued to her television watching the storm’s every move, while notifying all of her friends and family of the threat. Oretha also enjoyed going out to eat with family, especially when Mexican food was on the menu.
Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Allison of Hennepin; two sons, George Moore and wife Sandy of Lone Grove and Rick Brown and Dan of Indiana; nine grandchildren, Betsy Cowie and husband Den, Kevin Warren and wife Camille, Krystal Rawls and husband Justin, Chad Allison and wife Desire, Clay Allison and wife Barbara, Lacey Allison, Dustin Brown and wife Jill, Mitchell Moore and wife Nicole and Lindsey Scribner and husband Triston; as well as 28 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Oretha was preceded in death by one son, Scott Brown and wife Francis; one grandson Scott Brown, Jr; two brothers, William Bill McNeil and Herbert McNeil; as well as two sons-in-law, Lannie Warren and Charlie Allison.
Services were entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home of Davis.
