Daniel Boyd Atkins

Daniel Boyd Atkins of Sulphur was born Oct. 27, 1930, in Oklahoma City to  Thaddie and Mary (Rhyan) Atkins. He died Aug. 31, 2021, in Sulphur at the age of  90 years, 10 months and 4 days.  He was married to Francis (Huggins) Atkins in Wellington, Texas on Nov. 21, 1969.
Atkins grew up in the Chickasha area, where he graduated from Chickasha High School in 1949. He lived in several areas before moving to Sulphur in June 1970. He taught welding at the Skill Center for 8 years. He worked as a welder and mechanic. Atkins served in the US Army and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Atkins is survived by his wife: Frances Atkins, of  Sulphur; 3 daughters: Teresa Wilson, Renee Henson, and Sabrina Palmer; 3 sons: David Atkins, Alfred Atkins and Brian Burns;15 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-greatgrandchildren; 2 sisters: Margaret Vanstrien, Annie Wudi; and 2 brothers: Glen Atkins and Nick Atkins.
Services were Sept. 4, 2021, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church officiated by Father Aaron Foshee. Burial was at Drake-Nebo Cemetery under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home.
