Richard Irvin Choate

Richard Irvin Choate of Sulphur was born Aug. 27, 1941, in Yeager, Okla., to  Rupert Dean and Millie Betty (Chancellor)  Choate. He died Sept. 3, 2021, in Sulphur at the age of 80 years and 6 days.
Choate grew up in the New Model Community, where he attended elementary school and graduated from Spalding High School. He attended Murray State College before graduating from Oklahoma State University  with a degree in Computer Science. Choate served in the U.S. Army in 1961 and 1962. He lived in Sulphur for the last 20 years
He married Jackie Rae Osborn in 1963. She preceded him in death in 2015. He later married Oweda (Oxley) Curry in 2017.
Choate is survived by his wife: Oweda Choate of Sulphur; their children: Richard Choate, Brian Choate, Kenny Curry, Don Curry, Toni Jones, and Kim Pauley; 7 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 7 at Crossway First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Bill Leveridge. Burial was at Fairview – Maguire Cemetery in Noble under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home.
