Rosa Charlene “Charlie” Riddle
Rosa Charlene “Charlie” Riddle was born Sept. 20, 1937, in Davis, to the late Bobbie R. and Geraldine Riddle. She died on Thursday, August 5, 2021, in Denton, Texas, at the age of 83 years.
Charlene grew up in Davis, graduating from Davis High School. She will be fondly remembered for her incredibly sweet heart, her quirky sense of humor and her fierce love of family. Probably the most precious times involved everyone coming together for big events, especially Christmas. She was an amazing hostess, loving the busyness of baking and cooking special dishes and decorating with special care. No Christmas was complete without attending church services at the First Baptist Church of Davis, where she was a member, and singing carols to our Lord. Charlie loved to sing God’s praises loud, always making a joyful noise.
Charlie was an avid artist with paint, oil, China and pottery. She was wonderfully creative. She was also passionate about football, especially the Davis Wolves and the OU Sooners. She followed both teams religiously and loved talking about the games. She enjoyed all kinds of music, but she held a special love for old gospel songs and anything from the 50’s. And she could dance up a storm.
Although she will be greatly missed, we are so grateful for all that she shared with us, and we are so happy that she is reunited with her wonderful family in Heaven.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Juanita M. “JR” Riddle, of Denton, Texas; nieces and nephews, Carrie Berman and husband Dale of Justin, Texas, Bobbie Riddle and wife Rhonda of Oakland, Calif. and G. Todd Riddle and wife Linda of Missouri City, Texas; as well as many other extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Charlene was preceded in death by her brother Gerald R. Riddle on March 16, 2021.
An informal celebration of Charlene’s life will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, at Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
