Wolves are off to the Bi-District baseball tournament in Alva

The Lady Wolves softball team had its season end last week at Prague in the Class 4A District Tournament. The Wolves baseball team enjoyed a perfect week, going 3-3 with a pair of wins over Marietta and a home victory against Sulphur.
Lady Wolves 18, Lexington 10
The Lady Wolves prepped for the district tournament April 18 with a win at Lexington in the last regular season game. There was one tie and three lead changes in the high-scoring shootout.
Davis scored three runs in the first on five hits. The Lady Bulldogs tied the score at 3-3 in their half of the first with three runs on three hits and an error.
Shelby Courtney’s RBI-double in the second put Davis back in front 4-3. The Lady Wolves added two runs in the third and led 6-3.
Lexington cut the lead to 6-5 with two runs in the third. Davis pushed the lead to 9-5 with three runs in the fourth. Lexington scored five runs in the fourth and took a 10-9 lead.
The Lady Wolves took the lead for good with six runs in the fifth. Alexis Barnes hit a two-run triple and Kensley Barnes hit an RBI-double in the rally.
Davis padded the lead in the sixth with three runs.
Lexi Ryan went 4-4 with two runs scored. Paige Miller, Alexis Barnes and Courtney all went 4-5. Kensley Barnes, Kamryn Martin and Jacie LaNoy were 2-4.
Lady Wolves 8, Prague 5
The Lady Wolves opened the district tournament April 21 with a 12-0 win over Hennessey. Davis lost 14-1 in game 2 to host Prague and needed a win over the same team to continue its season.
The Lady Wolves scored three runs in the first on Shelby Courtney’s RBI double and Kensley Barnes’ RBI single. Prague trimmed the lead to 3-1 with a run in the first.
Davis took command in the third scoring three runs. Paige Miller and Courtney each homered, giving the Lady Wolves a 6-1 cushion.
Miller hit her second homer of the game in the fourth, a two-run shot that put Davis in front 8-1.
Prague scored four runs in the seventh for the three-run decision.
Miller, Kamryn Martin and Anna Merrell all went 2-3. Ryan, Alexis Barnes and Courtney were 2-4.
Prague 12, Lady Wolves 6
Playing its fourth game of the day and its third against Prague, Davis took a 1-0 lead with two outs in the second inning.
Prague homered in the second and took a 2-1 lead on a single, an error and a walk. The lead increased to 6-1 in the third when the Lady Red Devils hit a three-run homerun.
Prague scored three runs in the fourth on three singles, a walk and two-run single.
Davis cut the lead to 9-6 with five runs in the fifth. Anna Merrell hit a two-run homerun and Paige Miller hit a three-run single.
Prague hit a three-run homerun in the sixth for the 12-6 final.
Kamryn Martin went 2-2 against Prague while Jacie LaNoy was 2-3 with a run scored. Lexie Ryan went 2-4 and scored one run.
The Lady Wolves finished the season 10-16.
Wolves 11, Marietta 3 (5innings)
Davis won at Marietta 11-1 in four innings on April 18 and followed it up the next day with an 11-3 home win over the Indians.
Marietta scored a run in the first and two in the second for a 3-0 lead. Davis responded with six runs in the second on one hit, a walk and four Marietta errors.
The Wolves scored four runs in the fourth on six hits. Gavin Moore hit a two-run single, Jeston Idleman scored on an error and Dawson Fetty belted an RBI single.
Lane Rawls’ RBI single in the fifth closed out the scoring.
Brenden Rawls was 2-2 and Raydyn Amos went 2-4 with three runs scored. Fetty was 1-2 with an RBI and scored one run.
Freshman Luke Linville started and worked five innings on 91 pitches. He allowed three runs on one hit. He walked two, struck out eight and retired the last 10 batters of the game.
Wolves 9, Sulphur 5
Davis trailed 2-1 but took the lead for good with a three-run second inning. Brenden Rawls hit an RBI single and Luke Linville delivered a two-run single.
The Wolves tacked on four runs in the third for an 8-2 lead. Sulphur cut the margin to 8-3 with a run in the fourth.
Davis added a run the fifth on two singles and a Lane Rawls sacrifice fly. The Bulldogs scored two runs in the seventh on two hits and a wild pitch.
Amos went 2-3 with a walk, an RBI and one run scored. Brenden Rawls was 2-3 with two RBIs and scored two runs.
Senior Gavin Moore made the start and left the game in the seventh. He worked 110 pitches and allowed five runs on three hits. The righthander walked six and struck out six.
The Wolves are 9-13 overall and finished fifth in the district with a 5-7 record. Davis plays at Alva April 28 in the Class 3A Bi-District Tournament.
The two teams will play a doubleheader Thursday with the first game starting at 4. An if-necessary game will be played on Friday. It takes two wins to advance to next week’s regional tournament.
