Davis Public Library Introduces the 2022 Fall Let’s Talk About It Book Discussion

Join the Davis Public Library for the Let’s Talk About It series entitled: “Myth and Literature” beginning Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. This series will introduce four different books accompanied by scholar presentations for people who love to read and discuss literature.
Beginning with Bill Moyers’ interviews with Joseph Campbell, who discusses the relevance of myths from many cultures, this series shows how authors use existing mythologies and create new ones to explain our world.
Beginning with “The Power of Myth” by Joseph Campbell (Aug. 23) and “Black Elk Speaks” by John G. Neihardt (Sept. 6), the series is followed by “Passage to India” by E. M. Forster (Sept. 20), “The Summer Before the Dark” by Doris Lessing (Oct. 4), and lastly “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald (Oct. 18).
Funding for this program is provided in part by a grant from the Oklahoma Humanities (OH) and the Inasmuch and Kirkpatrick Endowment for the Humanities. Any views, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed in this program do not necessarily represent those of OH.
This program is free and open to the public. Copies of the books are available at the library.
