Joshua James Marney
Joshua James Marney of Bethany died on Nov. 22 at his home. Marney was 39 years, 11 months and 1 day. He was born on Dec. 21, 1982, to Larry Marney and Kelly Marney in Duncan. Marney grew up in the Sulphur area where he attended school.
Marney joined the Army when he was 18 years old.
He served in Iraq from 2001-03. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Army Achievement Medal. Following his military service Marney attended MIT School to become a Harley Davidson certified mechanic. He worked as both a mechanic and in construction.
Survivors include: father: Larry Marney; mother: Kelly Trussell; brother: Ryan Marney; sister: Ashleigh Webb; step-sister: Kaysie Everly; grandmother: Kay Marney; aunts: Jeanie Long, Becky Gaddy, Charlotte Allman and Suzi Woodruff; and uncles: Jerry Marney and Rudy Glover.
Military Service by US Army Honor Guard with a 21 Gun Salute Chickasaw Honor Guard.
Services were Nov. 29 at the First Freewill Baptist Church in Sulphur, with Kim Gaddy and Chris Hale officiating. Interment followed at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.
