Get Ready for a SUPER Homecoming in Davis
FOOTBALL HOMECOMING queen candidates for the 2023-24 school year have been announced. Football Homecoming will be Friday Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. in the Wolf Field. Candidates are pictured (from left:) Preslee Hunt, sophomore; Presley Smith, senior; and Cayden Buckaloo, junior. Coronation and game time will be announced next week.
Next week Davis Wolves students will celebrate Homecoming and Alumni activities starting Monday with Dress-up Days for students. Students have a choice on Monday with Health Care versus Self Care and it’s scrubs or pjs. Tuesday is Superhero Day. Wednesday students will show us their best BBQ Dad and Soccer Mom attire. Thursday will be Barbie versus Ken. Friday there will be no school but students can wear their best Hawaiian attire to the parade and game to celebrate Homecoming.
Friday’s Homecoming Parade theme will be Superheroes. The parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Fifth Street. Those wishing to participate can still sign up by calling (580) 369-5541 and asking for Diane Birkes at Davis High School. She will assign each participant a number and a position for the parade. Participants should line up no later than 1 p.m. on Fifth Street. There will be a pep assembly on the south side of Third Street at stop light following the parade.
No candy can be thrown from floats, cars, fire trucks, any vehicles or cars this year. Candy may be handed out by someone walking alongside each parade entry this year.
The Homecoming Coronation at Wolf Field. This year’s candidates are sophomore, Preslee Hunt; Junior, Cayden Buckaloo; and Senior, Presley Smith. The Wolves will face off against the Pauls Valley Panthers.
Coronation and game times will be announced next week.
Alumni Hall of Fame Inductees this year include Darin Rogers, class of 1987 and Brandon Tomlinson, Class of 1995. They will be introduced at halftime. The selection committee felt the attributes and accomplishments exhibited by these two alumni were more than deserving of the honor. “They will be showcased during the parade, featured during pregame festivities and honored at the alumni reception Saturday,” said Alumni
The banquet will be a come and go reception from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Davis Public Schools Cafeteria. There will be snack food, Alumni Hall of Fame Recognition and time for alumni to catch up and reminisce. This year will be free to attend as well. Alumni Coordinators say they understand the importance of this tradition and continue to work to ensure to continue its legacy.
