Carters go to nationals

Bass master. Dakota Carter (left) and his father Cody enjoyed a trip to Huntingdon, Tenn. on Oct. 19-20 as Dakota and his fishing partner, Perston Keller of Oklahoma City took seventh place in a national fishing tournament. Cody was the captain of the boat for the boys in the tournament.

Davis eighth grader, Dakota Kidd Carter and his fishing partner, Preston Keller of Oklahoma City represented Oklahoma in the 2020 Mossy Oak Fishing Bassmaster Junior National Championship. Carter and Keller took seventh place out of 54 teams competing at Carroll County Lake in Huntingdon, Tenn. on Oct.19-20.
Carter’s father, Cody captained the boat for the duo, which caught eight fish, weighing a total of 10 lbs., 7 oz. The first place team from Tennessee caught a total of 10 fish, weighing 13 lbs., 15 oz., in all.
The tournament was limited to the top two teams from each state represented. Carter and Keller qualified for Nationals by placing second in the Oklahoma Junior B.A.S.S. Nation State Tournament at Lake Murray in June.
Carter also placed first at the Shawnee Twin Lakes tournament and fourth at the Lake Eufaula tournament earlier this season. He is the son of Cody and Jentre Carter. Carter’s grandparents are Leon and Judy Rushing and Mark and Judy Carter, all of Davis; and Chris and Mitzi Winters, of Wynnewood.
