Travis Eugene Vaughan
Travis Eugene Vaughan was born April 6, 1943, in Mangum. He died Jan. 19, 2021, in Wynnewood, at the age of 77. Vaughan and the former Ms. Lucy Azelle Samis were married on March 26, 1966 in Vernon, Texas. She preceded him in death on March 20, 2012.
Vaughan grew up in the Snyder, Okla. area. Following his service with the United States Army, he began working in the granite quarries, securing tablets to be used for monuments. In 1980, He began his own monument company, known as Mill Creek Monuments, retiring and selling the business in 2018.
Vaughan is survived by two daughters, Gina Bruster of Mill Creek and Anissa Vaughan of Sulphur; three grandchildren; one great granddaughter; 9 siblings; as well as his loving companion, Dorothy Pontius of Wynnewood.
Funeral services were, Jan. 23, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Mill Creek with Brother Jim Yeager officiating. Interment followed at the Troy Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur.
