Davis Community and Senior Center will open Monday
The Davis Community and Senior Center will reopen Monday, March 21 to seniors wishing to dine in the facility. Community Services Director Stacey Harness is excited to open the doors to friends the facility hasn’t seen in two years.
Monday will come with other changes, too. Drive-through is no longer an option, but carry-out is. Early carry-out will take place from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. and late carry-out will happen between noon and 12:15 p.m. If you can’t come inside the building for whatever reason, let the person know who takes your call in order and they will make arrangements with you to bring the order to your car when you arrive at the Community and Senior Center.
Those choosing to eat in the facility can do so from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Harness asks that all guests entering the building use the west entrance. The south entrance will be for employees only.
Volunteers are needed to help serve drinks and lunch.
Donations of puzzles and board games are being accepted for the Community and Senior Center, too.
Harness said that she is looking forward to the future. She hopes to host monthly community events at the center. She’s looking at activities like domino tournaments, Bingo nights, painting parties, music events and even health fairs that would interest all Davis residents. “We want to offer things that will bring people together,” she said. “This is a community center and we are so excited for the events we will have in this space.”
Any event hosted where money is collected will be a fundraiser for the Community and Senior Center.
In the fall, Harness is looking forward to finalizing plans for the Thrift Store that will be located in the old Senior Citizens Center on South Fourth Street (currently occupied by Physical Therapy Central.)
“We are excited to have our senior community back in one place again. We can’t wait to get together to fellowship, socialize and enjoy each other’s company,” Harness said. “It’s been a long two years, we have some catching up to do!”
Anyone wishing to place a food order, volunteer Monday, Wednesday or Friday at the Community and Senior Center or donate items to the center is asked to call (580) 369-2452 to speak with Harness.
