Davis’ two track teams competed April 1 at the Kingston meet and both squads continued to give solid performances.
Sophomore Jake Hefley won the 800-meter run and finished fifth in the 400-meter dash. William Lyles placed second in the 800.
Junior Chase Stewart finished fourth in the shot put and fifth in the discus throw.
The Wolves’ 1600-meter relay team (Kavan Bolding, Montana Riggle, Hefley and Sevy Adams) finished fourth.
“We had a great week of practice,” said Wolves’ track coach Hunter Fullerton. “Everyone improved on their times.”
The Lady Wolves placed well at the Kingston meet. The 4×100 relay team (Jacie LaNoy, Kensley Barnes, Chloe Summers and Shelby Courtney) won first for the second straight week.
The 4×200 relay team (LaNoy, Barnes, Cassidy Parsons and Courtney) and the 1600-meter relay team (Parsons, Summers, Barnes and LaNoy) each finished second.
Summers placed fourth in the 200-meter dash and Parsons finished fourth in the 400.
Jadi Thomas won the discus throw and placed fourth in the shot put. Anna Merrell finished third in the discus.
Both teams will compete this week April 8 at the Plainview Meet.
“We expect it to be the most competitive track meet that we have been to so far this season,” Fullerton said.
