Joyce Carr

On September 16, 2022, at the age of 81, Joyce Carr formally changed her address for a mansion on golden streets where she would meet daily with her heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, her Lord, savior, provider, protector, deliverer and best friend.
Born in San Jose, Calif., March 19, 1941, to Rev. Cecil and Udee Pool, she thrived on being a preacher’s kid (PK.) Joyce grew into a woman of purpose and faith, serving in all capacities of talent as needed, including ladies’ ministries, pianist, and music ministries. Joyce excelled in the business world as well, joyfully loving each administrative position God gave her in high-level corporate businesses in California and Arizona.
Joyce’s greatest gift from God was her gift of encouragement and ability to listen to the people drawn to her bearing their heartaches, discouragements, wounds, loneliness, secrets, dreams and failures; walking away knowing they had been heard, understood, not judged, and counseled in total confidence.
Joyce also fulfilled her calling in becoming one in marriage to Vernon Earl Carr. In the steps of her parents, she and Vernon served as pastors and evangelists for over 35 years – being “led in the path of righteousness for His name sake.” Their music ministry touched hearts and souls across the country.
Joyce is survived by her sister, Ladonna Morrell and husband William of Arizona; son, Chris Murphy of Texas; daughter, Angela Murphy of New York, and son Davis Murphy of Louisiana. From these blessings have come four amazing grandchildren, Brendan, Rhiannon, Quinn and Iris; and eight bonus grandchildren, Caitlyn, Hunter, Matthew, Rikki, Nichole, Jessie, Steven and Shane.
Joyce is preceded in death by her father and mother, Rev. Cecil and Udee Pool. and her beloved husband, Vernon.
Her Celebration of Life Service was held at the graveside in Byars, Okla., on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, at 11 a.m. Pastor Billy Staggs officiated the service.
Condolences to the family may be sent in care of Angie Staggs, P. O. Box 793, Davis, OK 73030.
